【講演要旨】
ルドミラ・サヴィツキー（1881–1957）は、ロシア系フランス人の作家・翻訳家、文芸批評家、ならびに演劇人であり、ロシア、英語圏、フランスという三つのモダニズムの潮流を媒介した存在である。しかし、その国際的意義はいまだ十分に評価されていない。幼少期にフランスへ移住し女優として活動を開始したが、夫によって舞台を禁じられたことを契機に、執筆へと活動の軸を移した。散文を伴う最初の詩集は「過度に美しい」と批判され、同時代の文学的ネットワークからも大きな支持を得ることはなかった。
多言語的感受性と複数の文学伝統に通じた深い素養を備えていたサヴィツキーは、ジェイムズ・ジョイス初期作品の翻訳者として最も適任な人物の一人であった。その才能は、エズラ・パウンド、ジョン・ロドカー、コンスタンチン・バリモントといった主要なモダニストたちにとって不可欠なものとなった。彼女のアーカイヴは、豊かな翻訳実践の痕跡とともに、作家としての野心が繰り返し奉仕的役割へと回収されてきた未完の可能性を浮かび上がらせている。

"Ludmila Savitzky (1881–1957), a French writer and translator of Russian origin, literary critic and woman of the theatre, remains insufficiently recognized as a cosmopolitan mediator among three currents of modernism—Russian, English, and French. Having arrived in France at an early age, she began her career as an actress, but, prohibited from the stage by her husband, she turned to a “profession compatible with family life”: writing. Her first collection of poetry accompanied by prose texts was reproached for its “excessive beauty” and received little encouragement from figures within her circle such as Max Jacob, Marinetti, Picasso, and Apollinaire. Gifted with a multilingual ear and a profound knowledge of several literary traditions, she was undoubtedly among the best equipped to translate the first book of James Joyce. Her talents soon became indispensable to major modernist figures such as Ezra Pound, John Rodker, and Konstantin Balmont, who relied on her expertise to advance their own projects.

Beyond the abundant traces of Savitzky’s translation work, her archives reveal the unrealized potential of a writer whose authorial ambitions were persistently redirected to a service role".

演者紹介
西部カトリック大学（フランス、アンジェ）講師、現代テクスト草稿研究所（ITEM；パリ）多言語主義・翻訳・創作研究グループ協力研究者。主な業績として『現代のキアロスクーロ：ピエール・ベルギィヌー、ピエール・ミション、パトリック・モディアノ、パスカル・キニャール』（ブリル、2017年）など。その他、現代ロシアの詩人アンナ・グラゾワとウラジミール・アリストフの翻訳（ジャン=クロード・パンソンとの共訳）も手がける。現在はロシアの哲学者・言語学者であるグスタフ・シュペートの『美学断章』の翻訳に取り組んでいる。

Julia Holter is a lecturer at the Catholic University of the West in Angers, France. She is an associate researcher with the research group Multilingualism, Translation, Creation at the Institute of Modern Texts and Manuscripts (ITEM) in Paris. She has published several articles as well as the book Le Clair-Obscur extrême-contemporain: Pierre Bergounioux, Pierre Michon, Patrick Modiano and Pascal Quignard (Brill, 2017). She has co-translated, with Jean-Claude Pinson, the contemporary Russian poets Anna Glazova and Vladimir Aristov, and is currently translating Aesthetic Fragments by Gustav Shpet, a Russian philosopher and linguist.
